Steam Trap Production Process and Safe Operating Procedures
There are four types of traps: steam traps, air traps, pump traps, and drain valves.
- Steam traps remove condensate from steam pipes or equipment;
- The air trap removes water from compressed air pipes or equipment;
- Pump traps rely on air or steam as power to pressurize condensate or liquid from the low-pressure area to the high-pressure area;
- The drain valve is used to remove the liquid with larger density in the gas-liquid two-phase or two liquid environments.

1. Production Process
The basic function of steam traps is to discharge the air, cold non-condensable gases and condensed water produced by steam use in the steam system as quickly as possible, while automatically preventing steam leakage. There are many types of traps, each with different performances. When choosing a trap, you should first consider whether its characteristics can meet the optimal operation of the steam heating equipment, and then consider other objective conditions.
The design and manufacture of steam traps focus on sealing and durability. The roll-on valve mechanism (SCCV switch method) is adopted, which has excellent sealing and durability. The balanced double valve seat design makes the trap small in size and large in displacement. The built-in bimetallic air automatic discharge valve can prevent air blockage and steam lock.

2. Safety operating procedures
The installation of the equipment should be tailored to the actual situation on site and the assembly requirements of the steam trap, and installed according to the designed dimensions and position. Make sure the steam trap is firmly installed, the holes and interfaces are sealed, and equipped with corresponding bolts, sealing washers and other auxiliary materials.
During use, the steam trap should be opened/closed correctly according to the operating procedures. It is forbidden to force it to close/open in the opposite direction. Clean the radiator and other accessories in time to avoid spilling impurities and contaminating other equipment. When starting to use, it should be heated slowly to gradually reach the normal operating temperature. Regularly check and modify the operation and maintenance records, and clean and disinfect the steam trap.
If the steam trap is found to be leaking, it should be stopped immediately and repaired to avoid unnecessary personal injury or equipment damage.
